(Saudia & Jessica)

We’re Jessica and Saudia - best friends since college who decided to start Book and Beauty Confidential! We’ve traveled together to Cyprus (Jess almost got left behind in Austria, good times) and do a lot of fun stuff locally. We’ve always had similar interests. Jess minored in Theater and performed in some fantastic musicals, while Saudia took the more introverted route and was stage manager in their university theater group. We weren’t always friends. Then one day Saudia threw a Sprite bottle at Jess (nobody remembers why and Saudia insists that Jess deserved it) and we’ve been friends ever since. Btw Jess once tripped and fell in a movie theater. There were no steps involved. That’s not important to this blog, but important to share with the world.

So why did we decide to write about books and beauty? Well we both read...a lot. Jess is a speed reader and Saudia spends 4 hours a day on a train. And the beauty part? Jess was introduced to the world of makeup when she started doing theater in High School and she’s been interested in it ever since. Saudia on the other hand calls Cetaphil and mascara a solid routine. Jess spends a solid 20% of her day answering Saudia’s questions about makeup (i.e. what is primer? what do you mean Cetaphil isn’t a face moisturizer? slap on a serum? like literally slap my face?) Long story short, we were born to do this.

This isn’t our first trip to the rodeo. Jess runs a lifestyle blog (Defining My World) and Saudia runs a book blog (The Drowsy Reader.) Book and Beauty Confidential will be a nice blend of the two.

Join us in our reading and beauty adventure (and as Jess tries to convince Saudia to invest in a grown-up skin-care routine).
